Les activités, trampoline, gymnastique rythmique et gymnastique artistique, sont éclatées sur trois sites, à Arques, Saint-Omer et Longuenesse, en sachant que les salles concernées n’offrent pas toujours les conditions techniques suffisantes, notamment un manque de hauteur.

Hambüchen, Uchimura Headline Cottbus Lineup

March 19, 2009 (International Gymnast): German star Fabian Hambüchen and Olympic all-around silver medalist Kohei Uchimura headline the 33rd "Tournament of Masters" in Cottbus, Germany, which begins Friday. The traditional "Turnier der Meister" is the second World Cup meet this year after the Gymnix event in Montreal. Several countries are regrouping after the Olympic Games in Beijing last year, but Cottbus stilll has managed to draw an exciting field of 111 gymnasts. Many are Cottbus veterans who appreciate the atmosphere around this competition and enjoy returning every year.

Gymnastics stars at Lisburn event

March 19, 2009 (BBC): Prospective 2012 Olympic medal contenders will be in action at the Salto National Gymnastics Centre in Lisburn this weekend. The Romanian junior team will be taking on their Great Britain counterparts in an international match, which will also feature individual competitions.

IG Founder Glenn Sundby Passes Away

March 18, 2009 (International Gymnast): Glenn Sundby, founder of International Gymnast magazine and the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame, passed away Wednesday. He was 87. Sundby was suffering from poor health over the past year and had been residing in an assisted living center in Carlsbad, Calif. His condition worsened about a week ago, when he was moved to Tri-City Hospital in Vista, California.

Ex-gymnast Moceanu gives birth to second child

March 18, 2009 (Houston Chronicle): 1996 Olympic gold medalist Dominique Moceanu, formerly of Houston, has given birth to her second child, a boy, according to a family spokesman.

Vincent Michael Canales, the second child for Moceanu and her husband, Dr. Michael Canales, was born Friday at MacDonald Women's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He weighed in at 8 pounds, 9 ounces.

Rhythmic gymnasts scoop Sportlerball awards

March 13, 2009 (Namibia Economist): Rhythmic gymnasts shone at the recent SKW Sportlerball taking three awards for best sportswoman, best team and best trainer. All the athletes, parents and guests appeared in festive clothing for the event and awaited expectantly the nominations. A long list of requirements have to be fulfilled like the number of hours trained per week, the number of nationals one participate in, as well as information on whether the entree participated internationally.

Russian Championships Conclude

March 13, 2009 (International Gymnast): Olympian Ksenia Semyonova was the only double winner in the apparatus finals as the Russian Championships concluded Friday in Bryansk. Semyonova, the 2007 world champion on uneven bars, won that event and floor exercise, and finished third on balance beam.

USOC to hunt new Olympics CEO

March 18, 2009 (Sport Features): The USOC will now, after all, headhunt a new CEO following the abrupt resignation of Jim Scherr two weeks ago and the interim handover to board member Stephanie Streeter. Controversy and concern was sparked by the prospect of Streeter’s conflict of interest. Plainly it was unsatisfactory to say the least to have a senior executive reporting to the board of which she is a member.

Tokyo 2016 Seeks To Boost Sports Education

March 16, 2009 (The Sport Briefing): The Tokyo bid committee for the 2016 Olympic Games has sealed an agreement with the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Kanoya (NIFS) that aims to enhance Japan’s sports education system and boost the city’s legacy plans. The agreement will see Tokyo 2016 work with the Institute – renowned for developing top-class athletes and coaches – on initiatives for the ongoing benefit of the Olympic Movement.

Moustafa makes surprise bid for key Olympic job

March 11, 2009 (International Herald Tribune): Under-fire handball federation head Hassan Moustafa has launched a surprise bid for election to an influential Olympic post. The Egyptian, who faces a challenge in his own sport, is running against incumbent Denis Oswald for the presidency of the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations. Oswald, who is an executive board member of the International Olympic Committee, has headed ASOIF since 2000 and had been widely expected to be unopposed. The Swiss official is also president of the international rowing federation.
