ACRO: Les « France » dans le viseur

13 mars, 2009 (Le Bien Public) : Durant tout le week-end, près de 250 gymnastes vont s'affronter pour tenter de se sélectionner pour les championnats de France en gymnastique acrobatique, trampoline et tumbling qui auront lieu au mois de mai à Reims et à Grenoble.

Ces trois activités acrobatiques sont évaluées par un corps de juges, qui apprécient l'exécution et la difficulté des exercices à partir de code de pointage établi par la Fédération internationale.

French Pick Teams for Milan

March 12, 2009 (International Gymnast) : A mixture of veterans and newcomers will represent France at the European Championships next month in Milan. Three-time Olympian Yann Cucherat and 2008 Olympic medalists Benoit Caranobe and Thomas Bouhail headline the men's team for Milan.

The 2009 European Championships will be held April 2-5, and will feature individual senior competition for men and women.

Russia Picks Women's Squad for Europeans

March 12, 2009 (International Gymnast) : Ksenia Afanasyeva, Yulia Berger, Kristina Goryunova and Ksenia Semyonova will represent Russia at the upcoming European Championships in Milan. Afanasyeva, Goryunova and Semyonova will perform all four events in qualification, and Berger will compete vault and floor exercise, women's head coach Alexander Alexandrov said Thursday at the Russian Championships in Bryansk.

Sport-Thousands of Chinese athletes faking ages in Guangdong

March 11, 2009 (Reuters): The sports ministry in Guangdong Province says it has undertaken X-Ray bone analysis on 15,000 youth athletes and found a fifth of them had misrepresented their age, local media reported. Suspicions of age faking have dogged Chinese sport over the last couple of years and at one stage threatened to cause huge embarrassment for the hosts at last year's Beijing Olympics.

Belarus Best at 8th Stella Zakharova Cup

March 9, 2009 (International Gymnast): Belarus won both team titles and the women's all-around gold at the Stella Zakharova Cup, held Saturday and Sunday in Kiev. Israeli Olympian Alexander Shatilov won the men's all-around over 2008 Italian Olympic alternate Paolo Ottavi and Belarusian Artyom Bykov.

Nastia Liukin stays focused on competing

BOCOG Expects To Post Olympic Profit

Commonwealth Games Security To Be Enhanced

March 9, 2009 (The Sport Briefing): The organisers of the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi have moved to calm fears over security after investing US$15 million in the wake of the attack on the Sri Lanka cricket team in Pakistan last week. The Union Government of India has sanctioned the investment amid mounting concerns following last week’s incident in Lahore, which heightened fears following the terrorist attacks in Mumbai in November. The Mumbai attacks had already prompted some athletes to call for the Games to be moved.
