Gymnastics: Another International competition by GymstarsDecember 5, 2008 (The Malta Independent): Gymstars Gymnastics Club of Tarxien will close this year's sporting calendar by holding another international competition on Saturday and Sunday, 13th and 14th December, 2008 at the club in Tarxien. For this event, besides having the best local talent in this sport coming mainly from Gymstars and one athlete from ISC, there will also be some athletes of high level standard coming from different clubs from England and Belgium. |

Swiss founder of European Gymnastics Union diesLAUSANNE (SUI), December 4, 2008 (International Herald Tribune): Pierre Chabloz, founder of the European Gymnastics Union and former secretary general of the Swiss Olympic Committee, died Thursday. He was 91. Chabloz was hospitalized for several weeks with an unspecified illness. The Web sites of the International Gymnastics Federation, UEG and Swiss Olympic Committee announced his death. |

NGF leader honouredDecember 3, 2008 (Republikein): During an international ceremony, the Federation of International Gymnastics honoured the president of the Namibia Gymnastics Federation, Mrs. Vallereis Geldenhuys, for 8 years of dedicated services to gymnastics. Mrs. Geldenhuys is presently at the coast to support the NGF during the hosting of the Zone 6 competition and the African Championships. Azerbaijani Gymnast Gains Medal in CroatiaDecember 1, 2008 (Trend News): Azerbaijan gymnast Zeynab Javadli got silver at the international tournament taken place in Croatia. A 17-year old Baku sportswoman took the second place performing the exercises with a skipping-rope, a hoop, a club and a ribbon and got 63.635 points. Ostapenko Back in UkraineNovember 30, 2008 (International Gymnast): After seven years in Brazil, coach Oleg Ostapenko will return to work in January with the Ukrainian women's national team. "Oleg Ostapenko has returned to Ukraine — this is the first step of the return of our best people," said Ukrainian men's head coach Igor Korobchinsky. Ostapenko was the head coach of the Ukrainian women at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, as well as the personal coach of Ukrainian standouts Tatiana Lysenko, Natalia Kalinina and Viktoria Karpenko. |

Delhi will host 2010 Commonwealth Games: FennelNEW DELHI (IND), December 3, 2008 (The Times of India): The Commonwealth Games Federation reaffirmed that Delhi will host the 2010 edition of the sporting extravaganza and scotched rumours that an alternative venue was being considered in the wake of the terror attacks in Mumbai.
